Eligible vehicle owners do not need to register in advance and can arrive or leave at any point during the event. Exhibitors should bring the £2 entry fee and an oil drip tray.

Highlights and What to Expect

Classic Cars on the Quay brings a changing selection of vintage and enthusiast vehicles together beside the River Stour.

The exact display depends on which owners attend, but visitors may see:

  • Classic and vintage cars from different decades
  • Historic motorcycles and specialist vehicles
  • Familiar British marques and less common models
  • Opportunities to speak with owners and enthusiasts
  • Riverside walks and views around Christchurch Quay
  • Nearby cafés, refreshments and family facilities

The informal format means every gathering can offer a different selection of vehicles.

Information for Exhibitors

The event is open to cars, motorcycles and other vehicles registered before September 2001.

No advance registration is normally required. Exhibitors can arrive from 11am and leave when they wish before the event closes at 5pm.

Every display vehicle must use an oil drip tray to protect the ground. A limited number may be available to purchase from the organisers if an exhibitor forgets to bring one.

Weather and Cancellation Information

Classic Cars on the Quay takes place on grass and is particularly vulnerable to rain, waterlogged ground and poor forecasts.

The gathering may be cancelled at short notice if conditions could damage The Quomps or make vehicle access unsafe. One of the scheduled June 2026 events was cancelled because of unsuitable ground conditions.

Check the organiser’s Facebook page before travelling, especially if rain has fallen during the preceding days.

Parking and Facilities

Public parking is available in Christchurch town centre, including spaces around Quay Road and the nearby Priory and Mayor’s Mead car parks. Parking beside the Quay is limited and the area can become busy during events, so allow extra time.

Public toilets, children’s play facilities and places to purchase food and drink are available around Christchurch Quay. The Quomps is predominantly level, although the grass may be uneven or difficult to cross after wet weather.
