From the moment I arrived, I was surprised by just how much there was to explore. The estate stretches across 160 acres of parkland, woodland and gardens, yet it feels welcoming and easy to navigate. As I wandered along tree-lined paths and open lawns, it was hard to believe I was only a few minutes from the centre of Poole. The combination of wide-open green spaces and peaceful corners makes it an ideal escape from the everyday.

One of the things I loved most about Upton Country Park was the sheer variety of landscapes. One moment I was strolling through beautifully maintained formal gardens bursting with seasonal colour, and the next I was following woodland trails alive with birdsong before reaching the tranquil shoreline overlooking Poole Harbour.

The walking routes are well maintained and suitable for a leisurely wander, whether you're visiting for an hour or planning to spend the whole day exploring. Along the way, there are plenty of benches and scenic viewpoints where you can simply stop, relax and take in the surroundings.

At the heart of the estate stands the elegant Grade II* listed Upton House, a striking Georgian mansion that adds a real sense of grandeur to the park. The historic house, together with the beautifully restored Walled Garden and surrounding estate, gives the whole park a timeless atmosphere.

As I wandered through the grounds, it was easy to imagine how the estate would have looked centuries ago, while the carefully maintained gardens continue to provide colour and interest throughout the changing seasons.

Upton Country Park is one of those attractions that genuinely caters for everyone. Families will find plenty to keep children entertained, from Spurrier's Play Park and the large open front lawn to creative activities, seasonal events and the popular summer splash fountain in the Walled Garden.

The spacious grounds mean children have room to run, play and explore safely, making it one of the best family-friendly days out in Poole. Throughout the year, the park also hosts fairs, outdoor performances, workshops and community events, giving visitors even more reasons to return.

If you're visiting Dorset with your four-legged friend, Upton Country Park is an excellent choice. Dogs are warmly welcomed, with designated on-lead and off-lead areas, woodland walks, shoreline paths and even a self-service dog wash at the Welcome Centre.

It's clear that the park has been thoughtfully designed to make visits enjoyable for both dogs and their owners.

After exploring the grounds, I stopped at the Tea Rooms overlooking the beautiful Walled Garden. It was the perfect place to enjoy a coffee and something sweet while taking in the peaceful surroundings.

There's also a Welcome Centre, gift shop and regular refreshments available throughout the park, making it easy to spend a relaxed morning or afternoon here.

By the time I left, it was clear why Upton Country Park has become such a favourite with both locals and visitors. It offers a wonderful balance of history, gardens, wildlife and open space, all within easy reach of Poole and Bournemouth.
