Dancing Terraces is Pavilion Dance South West’s free summer programme of outdoor dance sessions, held on its Garden Terrace close to Bournemouth seafront.
Each evening introduces a different dance style, with visitors encouraged to join in and follow the moves rather than simply watch. No previous dance experience is needed, and the programme is designed to be accessible to families, adults and anyone who wants to try something new.
The confirmed 2026 programme is:
No. Visitors do not need any previous dance experience to take part.
The sessions are designed so people can simply arrive, follow the instructor and join in at their own pace. The relaxed format also means visitors can enjoy the music and atmosphere even if they do not want to dance for the full two hours.

Dancing Terraces takes place on the Garden Terrace at Pavilion Dance South West, on Westover Road in central Bournemouth.
The venue is immediately beside the Lower Gardens and close to Bournemouth Pier and the seafront, making it easy to combine a session with dinner, drinks or an evening walk along the beach.
Dancing Terraces is completely free to attend.
There is no need to reserve a place or purchase a ticket in advance. Visitors can simply arrive at the Garden Terrace and join the session.
The event is listed as suitable for all ages and is designed to be fun for the whole family.
Because no formal dance experience is required and visitors can follow along with the instructor, it can also be an easy way to introduce children to different styles of dance and music.
Dancing Terraces is an outdoor summer event, so weather conditions may affect individual sessions. Visitors planning to attend should check Pavilion Dance South West’s latest information before travelling if the weather is poor.
Sessions run from 7pm until 9pm every Friday and Saturday from 7 to 29 August 2026, with the final evening featuring a Salsa Party led by Clare Nicholas.
