AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium transformation is taking shape, with increased capacity, improved facilities and continued investment marking an exciting new chapter for the club and the wider Bournemouth area.

AFC Bournemouth’s home is undergoing a major transformation, with work continuing on the redevelopment of Vitality Stadium ahead of another Premier League season.
The club’s latest update, published on 7 August, confirmed that significant progress has been made across both refurbishment and new development work at the stadium. It marks the latest stage of an ambitious project designed to increase capacity, improve facilities and create a stadium better suited to the club AFC Bournemouth has become.
Despite AFC Bournemouth’s remarkable rise and continued presence in the Premier League, Vitality Stadium remains one of the division’s smallest grounds but that is beginning to change.
As part of the redevelopment, the club previously confirmed that the initial phase of work would increase overall stadium capacity by more than 1,500 seats. The project also includes improvements to media and broadcast facilities alongside wider upgrades around the ground.
A major second phase centres around the South Stand, where construction of a new upper tier is expected to begin during the 2026/27 season. According to the club’s plans, Phase Two is expected to be completed at or around the beginning of the 2027/28 season.
The result will be a significantly larger and improved home for a club whose ambitions have grown considerably since first reaching the Premier League.
For Bournemouth, the significance of the project stretches beyond the stadium itself.
Premier League football brings supporters from across the country to the town throughout the season. Those visitors also use Bournemouth’s hotels, restaurants, pubs, taxis, shops and other local businesses before and after matches.
Increasing the number of supporters able to attend games therefore creates opportunities beyond the turnstiles. The redevelopment also represents significant continued investment in an established Bournemouth institution, at a time when a number of projects are reshaping different parts of the area.
For local businesses, the continued growth of AFC Bournemouth provides something particularly valuable: a reason for thousands of people to regularly visit the area outside Bournemouth’s traditional summer tourism season.
