Purbeck Film Festival’s Cinema Under the Stars returns for a series of atmospheric outdoor film screenings in some of Dorset’s most memorable locations. Instead of watching from a traditional cinema seat, audiences can settle beneath the evening sky at a vineyard, historic castle, secret garden, coastal hotel or woodland nature reserve.
The 2026 summer season forms part of Purbeck Film Festival’s 30th-anniversary celebrations and combines popular family films, musicals, cult classics and thrillers with settings chosen to complement each story. Screenings begin once daylight levels allow, creating a relaxed cinema experience where the location becomes part of the film.
Standard ticket prices for most screenings are:
Advance booking is strongly recommended, as outdoor screenings can sell out. Visitors should bring their own low-backed seating, warm layers, blankets and a torch. Events are weather dependent but will normally only be cancelled in extreme conditions.
