Purbeck Film Festival returns from 16 October to 1 November 2026 for its 30th-anniversary celebration. Recognised as the UK’s longest-running rural film festival, it brings independent, international, classic and contemporary cinema to an imaginative collection of venues across Dorset.
Rather than limiting screenings to traditional cinemas, the festival transforms village halls, historic buildings, restaurants, churches and community spaces into temporary picture houses. Regular locations include The Rex Cinema in Wareham, The Mowlem Theatre in Swanage and venues throughout Purbeck, with selected events extending as far as Bournemouth and Bridport.
The complete 2026 programme has not yet been released. Organisers have confirmed that the anniversary festival will look back over three decades of cinema in Purbeck, with further screenings, special events and guest announcements expected nearer the event.
Tickets are sold separately for individual screenings and special events, with prices varying according to the film and venue.
Advance booking is recommended for popular screenings, visiting filmmaker events and gala evenings. Supporters can also become Friends of the Festival, with membership traditionally offering selected ticket discounts and invitations to special events.
